Father's Day Extremes for Southwest Lower Michigan

Father's Day is coming up this Sunday, June 16th.

Father’s Day was first unofficially observed back in June of 1910 in Spokane, WA. In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge supported a Father’s Day, however Father’s Day did not become an official holiday until 1966. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation proclaiming Father’s Day would be observed on the 3rd Sunday in June each year.

We found the dates that Father’s Day has been officially observed each year. We then researched the data for each Father’s Day, and found the warmest and coldest high temperatures, warmest and coldest low temperatures, and the wettest days for Grand Rapids, Muskegon, and Lansing. Period of record for Father’s Day for all sites is from 1966-present.
