Rainfall Totals

Much of Southwest Lower Michigan experienced a persistent rain during the overnight hours and into the morning.  Rainfall totals have generally ranged from 1 to 3 inches through the noon hour, with isolated higher amounts.  Flooding on area roadways has been occurring, ranging from ponding of water to complete washouts and closures on secondary roads.  Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways, as it is difficult to tell how deep the water actually is and what the condition of the road is underneath the water.  The rainfall will continue through this evening.  This rainfall is a result of an extensive plume of Gulf moisture that extends from Louisianna to Michigan.   Here is a graphic of 24 hour rainfall totals ending at 8am as well as the rainfall reports (along with flooding) that we have received today as of 12:30pm:

Most of this rain fell during the early and mid morning hours today.
