A BLIZZARD WARNING has been issued for the western counties of Southwest Lower Michigan through 4 PM Thursday.  A blizzard mean winds will gust frequently over 35 mph and the visibilitiy will be less than a quarter mile frequently for three hours or more due to snow and blowing snow.   The chart directly below shows by 3 PM this afternoon wind gusts over 40 mph will have moved across the Interstate 94 area.   By midnight (second chart) wind gusts over 30 mph will be common across most of Lower Michigan. When wind gusts over 35 mph are combined with the 6 to 8 inches of snow  (third chart below) a blizzard is the result.
