Showers and thunderstorms moved across Lower Michigan early this morning, and then again this afternoon. A band of thunderstorms that developed over northern Kent County on Monday afternoon remained nearly stationary and continue to affect the same areas for a few hours. The Rockford, Belmont, and Comstock Park areas saw the heaviest amount of rainfall. Locally 5 to 7 inches of rainfall occurred. This heavy rainfall caused flooding of some roads, some roads were washed out, and a couple of landslides occurred as a result.

Some unofficial rainfall reports support the 5 to 7 inches of rain that is estimated by the radar.
