Summary of Heavy Rain Tuesday Night

A narrow band of very heavy rain impacted southwest lower Michigan on Tuesday night. 2.5 to 4.5 inches fell in a band from roughly South Haven to Grand Rapids, with the highest amounts of 4+ inches falling from Caledonia to Ada in Kent County. This resulted in street flooding and significant rises on smaller creeks and streams.

Another narrow band of 2 to 3 inches fell Tuesday night across west central lower Michigan around Shelby, Pentwater, Hart and Ludington. The maximum amount reported was 3.09 inches near Hart.

The unofficial graphic below is our best estimate of how much rain fell across southwest Michigan Tuesday night, using reports from automated rain gauges, volunteer spotters, and CoCoRahs observers.
