The Evening Severe Weather Event of June 18

A line of severe storms moved through the southern sections of  Southwest Lower Michigan Friday evening, between 6:45 PM in the Lake Shore areas of Van Buren County and 10:30 PM as the storms exited Jackson and Ingham Counties.  There were numerous reports of isolated downed trees.  Most of those reports were south of Interstate 96 and west of Interstate 69.   There was an isolated report of hail over an inch in diameter near Concord in Jackson County.  Some cars in the area had some pitting from the hail. The storms were fast moving and were accompanied by frequent cloud to ground lighting.  There were widespread reports of power outages in the area that reported the wind damage.
