Cool Start to the Holiday Weekend

After a record warm month of August (and summer), a significant pattern change toward cooler weather is on the way. A strong cold front will pass through the region tonight, ushering in a much colder air mass on the heels of breezy northwest winds. In fact it will be cool enough on Friday and Saturday (highs in the 60s to around 70), that we will actually see lake effect clouds and rain showers. Gale Warnings have already been posted for Lake Michigan where westerly winds of up to 40 knots and waves in excess of eight feet are likely.
