The heavy lake effect snow event that has brought up to 21 inches of snow to parts of western Mason County and around a foot to western Van Buren County will continue through this morning before finally coming to an end toward the noon hour. Bursts of heavy snow are expected from time to time this morning. Typical of this type of event, the really heavy snowfall will fall very close to the Lake Michigan shore, mostly near or west of US-31 and I-196 south of Holland.
With storm totals near a foot over western Van Buren County and near two feet over western Mason County, expect another 1 to 4 inches in favored lake shore area through this morning.
There will be frequent whiteouts in the snow bands so travel is strongly discouraged in the lake shore area until road crews have a chance to clear the roads.
