Winter Weather Advisory Tonight

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow is in effect from 9 PM this evening to 5 AM Saturday for a portion of the area. Some cities in the advisory include: Grand Rapids, Holland, Muskegon, Jenison, Ludington, Hart, Fremont, Big Rapids, Reed City, and Baldwin.

A total of 2 to 5 inches is expected by  daybreak Saturday, with locally higher amounts possible north of a Grand Haven to Big Rapids line. Travel will be hazardous due to slippery roads and occasional visibilities of one half mile or less.  Slick travel may also be experienced outside of the advisory area as snow showers may still produce an inch or two of accumulation south and east of Grand Rapids in a short period overnight.

An area of snow will spread in from the west tonight after 9 PM and move east of Lansing by daybreak. Although it will not snow very long, the snow could be quite heavy for a few hours, especially over the Winter Weather Advisory area. Below is a map showing expected accumulations for the time frame from 7 pm Friday through 7 am Saturday.
