Another winter storm will continue to bring a mix of winter precipitation to our area into Tuesday morning. The storm (see bottom map for storm track) will bring 3 to 6 inches of snow to areas north of a line from Grand Haven to Mount Pleasant by noon Tuesday. Areas between there and Interstate 94 will have freezing rain, which will change to snow from west to east between midnight and 7 AM. Total snowfall will be 1 to 3 inches with the higher snowfall amounts north of Grand Rapids. Areas near and south of I-94 will see freezing rain change to rain late tonight before changing to all snow by mid morning Tuesday. Then light snow will end across all of the area by early afternoon, with temperatures falling late in the day as north winds increase.
Primary Hazards from this storm:
* While the precipitation is expected to change to rain overnight near and south of Interstate 94, due to the ground being frozen, any rain that falls overnight is expected to freeze on road and sidewalk surfaces making them very slippery.
* In areas that stay all snow expect gusty winds combined with moderate snowfall rates up to a half inch an hour to result in locally very poor visibilities into midday Tuesday.
The above map shows the total snowfall from this storm between 7 AM Monday and 7 PM Tuesday.
