A fast moving but intense low pressure system will move from northern Minnesota southeast to the Michigan/Indiana border tonight. On Saturday it will exit the region as quickly as it arrived, and snow will diminish or end by Noon Saturday. A broad swath of two to five inch snow accumulations will fall just north of the track of the low in a relatively short period of time, and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect across portions of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
In central and southern Lower Michigan, the snow will develop Friday evening, with the heaviest snow falling between Midnight and 5 AM. Three to five inches of new snow will accumulate along and north of the Interstate 96 corridor and one to three inches will fall south of Interstate 96, as shown by the map below.
