Very warm temperatures for this time of year are being forecast today as southerly winds pump much warmer air into the region. The warmth will come to an end this weekend as more normal temperatures return to the area. In the meantime, below are the records for our three climate locations for Thursday:
Grand Rapids......55F (set in 1911)
Lansing...............56F (set in 1880)
Muskegon...........50F (set in 1911 and 2008)
Current forecast highs are in the mid to upper 50s for today, particularly south of line from Muskegon to Mount Pleasant. These warm temperatures, along with gusty winds, will help to significantly reduce or possibly eliminate our entire snow pack. Watch for rises in area streams and rivers as the snow melts and water runs off into the basins.
High temperatures will drop into the mid and upper 30s for the weekend.
