A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued as a mix of rain and freezing rain is expected to continue across portions of central lower Michigan this evening. This mainly includes areas north of a Whitehall to Mt. Pleasant line. Some locations could see up to a quarter inch of ice accumulation. The freezing rain is expected to gradually change to snow across this area late tonight. Around an inch of snow is possible on top of the ice accumulation. This combination will make secondary and untreated roads slick into Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, areas south of a Whitehall to Mt. Pleasant line will see a steady rain develop tonight. Many areas will see around an inch of rain, and some areas closer to Lansing and Jackson could see up to an inch and a half of rainfall. In addition to this rain will come rising temperatures and melting snow, adding to the water runoff. A Flood Watch and several Flood Advisories have been issued for this area tonight as small streams and urban areas are at an increased risk for flooding.
Here is a look at hazards expected into Saturday morning.
