Comparing the 1981-2010 normals to 1971-2000 normals

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids will begin using the 1981-2010 normals on August 1st in all products that normals would be used in.  The new normals are overall warmer than the previous normals with the largest increase in the temperature in the winter months, near 2 degrees, and near one degree during the summer months. Precipitation is slightly more at all three sites (the increase is less than a quarter inch at all three sites).  The following links show a comparsion between the 1981-2010 normals and the 1971 to 2000 normals which  the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has been using for the past 10 years.
