Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Through Friday

Thunderstorms will be possible late this evening and tonight across southwest lower Michigan. Though there is a slight risk for damaging winds and hail of 1" or in diameter or greater, the bigger threat is expected to be the potential for heavy rainfall and localized flooding.

One to three inches of rainfall will be possible late this afternoon through tonight, which may result in some flash flooding and rapid rises in area creeks and streams. Additional rainfall Friday and Friday night is likely to continue the flooding threat into Saturday with rises in larger rivers possible through early next week.

Below is the forecast for total additional rainfall possible for today, May 3 through the morning on Saturday May 7.  Most of this rainfall is expected to occur late this afternoon and tonight. (Map Created at 545 am on Thursday May 3)
