There is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms into tonight across Lower Michigan. The most likely time for severe weather will be from about 6 pm through 10 pm. Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats, along with frequent lightning and locally heavy rain. The storm motion will be east at about 30 mph.
The atmosphere will become very unstable by late in the day. A cold front will move in from the west during the evening. This will likely trigger thunderstorms to form in Wisconsin. The storms will then track east, crossing through lower Michigan during the evening.
Below is the latest severe weather outlook for Wednesday from the Storm Prediction Center. The yellow area is where the slight (SLGT) risk exists.
