A mix of winter precipitation today - share what you see!

* A MIXTURE OF RAIN...FREEZING RAIN...SLEET...AND SNOW WILL OCCUR TODAY.

* ROADS COULD BE SLIPPERY ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.

* PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE OVER ENTIRELY TO SNOW BY THIS AFTERNOON.

* TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 1 TO 2 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE NEAR THE LAKESHORE NORTH OF MUSKEGON WITH LESSER AMOUNTS FARTHER INLAND.

* TRAVEL CONDITIONS MAY WORSEN AS WET ROADS FREEZE WITH COLDER TEMPERATURES.


With this weather system comes the opportunity to share what type of precipitation you observe. The National Severe Storms Laboratory is conducting a research project for Precipitation Identification Near the Ground (PING). They are looking for volunteers to report the type of precipitation they observe. There are even smart phone apps that allow you to submit reports!
