Local Area Emergency in Mecosta County Due to Ice Jam Flooding

An ice jam continues to form and build above Rogers Pond on the Muskegon River in Mecosta County, causing the river to rise upstream.  A Local Area Emergency (LAE) has been issued for Mecosta County.  Evacuations have been and continue to be ongoing along the Muskegon River near Rogers Heights.  Over a dozen homes have been evacuated and flooded.  Riverside Drive and 183rd Avenue (12th Mile Road) in particular are local areas of significant flooding.  Also, much colder temperatures and more snowfall are on the way this evening through the rest of the week
