Potentially Hazardous Hard Freeze Sunday Night

A secondary cold front will move through the region this afternoon, bringing temperatures to the area that are well below normal. Overnight lows tonight will range from the low to mid 30s. Some scattered frost is possible tonight, as temperatures get close to freezing. However, the main concern will come into focus on Sunday night. The core of the cold air settles in by Sunday, clouds will clear out and winds will become light by Sunday night. Sunday night's temperatures may fall as low as the mid 20s in northern and central portions of the state, with low 30s likely closer to the shore line. Proper precautions should be taken Sunday evening to protect any exposed vegetation that is not hardy. Unprotected vegetation could suffer great losses in temperatures that drop below freezing for several hours. Forecast overnight lows are depicted on the map below.
