Independence Day Extremes

July 4, 2012 turned out to be one of the hottest on record for Southwest Lower Michigan. The region warmed well into the 90s and overnight lows were reluctant to drop much, as temperatures only fell into the mid and upper 70s. July 4th actually turned out to be one of the "cooler" days of the week. Grand Rapids, Lansing and Muskegon would all hit record high temperatures on July 6, 2012, when many locations climbed well over 100 degrees inland and near 100 along the lakeshore. In the meantime, here are the weather extremes for the upcoming holiday.
