Heat Wave for Southwest Lower Michigan?

The remainder of the work week will include some temperatures that are slightly below or near normal. Highs today and Friday may even struggle to reach 80 degrees for some locations in Southwest Lower Michigan.

The heat then begins to return over the weekend. Highs Saturday and Sunday could make it into the mid to upper 80s, but this may only be the start of what's to come. There are a couple of scenarios that could play out, which would determine how high we go. One of these scenarios once included the notorious area of high pressure over the Desert Southwest that created so much heat in previous weeks . Some model forecasts brought this high pressure into the Midwest, which would build 90 degree readings well into the central portions of the country, as well as 100 degree readings in the Southern and Central Plains. However, the more likely possibility is that high pressure over the Atlantic builds and puts a "squeeze play" on and shifts everything west. This could be a big factor in determining a peculiar south and west track of an upper level low that is currently passing over the Great Lakes region.

This weather pattern certainly has the potential to not only keep Michigan warm for several days, but could also keep things dry. In this more likely scenario, there would only be slight chances for a storm over the weekend.
