Smoke from Canadian Wildfires Spreading into Illinois

Smoke aloft from wildfires in northern Canada has been carried southeast by the prevailing winds aloft. This visible satellite image from 8:45 am shows the smoke in milky gray shades, from the Dakotas southeast into Missouri, as opposed to... the bright white appearance of the clouds. The smoke has begun to edge into far western Illinois near Quincy, and will spread over more of Illinois as the day progresses. This will cause a hazy appearance to the sky. Sunsets will appear more vivid while the smoke persists.
