Calhoun County Added to Jacksonville NOAA Weather Radio Coverage

Effective May 18, the coverage area for NOAA Weather Radio station WXM-90 in Jacksonville has been expanded.  Watches, warnings, and advisories for Calhoun County will be included in the broadcast.

Calhoun County is currently part of the coverage for station KXI-70 in Jerseyville, which airs on a frequency of 162.45 MHz, and this will not change.,  However, the best reception from this station covers the central and southern portions of the county.  The northern portions of the county receive a better signal from WXM-90, which airs at 162.525 MHz.  By having the county on both radio stations, individual listeners can tune their radios to whichever station has a clearer signal in their area.

For listeners with receivers that can have specific counties programmed, the county code to use is 017013.  This code will work on either station.

The complete coverage area for WXM-90 is as follows (county codes in parentheses):

  • Brown (017009)
  • Calhoun (017013)
  • Cass (017017)
  • Greene (017061)
  • Morgan (017137)
  • Pike (017149)
  • Scott (017171)
