June 2010 was one of the wettest Junes on record for parts of central Illinois. The weather pattern featured a persistent storm track that brought numerous weather systems through this part of the Midwest. Several frontal boundaries stalled across the area, and been the focus for days of heavy rain. New June rainfall records were established for Galesburg (13.24"), Lincoln (10.79") and Havana (10.58").
The maps below from NOAA MRCC show rainfall and percent of normal across the region. Note the very wet conditions that were observed from southern Iowa, east through central Illinois and Indiana.
Below are graphs for several cities in central and southeast Illinois showing June 2010 rainfall and how this compares to normal, and the wettest June on record for each site. Visit the Climate Page of our website for additional climate information.
