Winter Weather Advisory for Snow in Southeast IL

Snow is expected to impact travel in southeast Illinois this evening into early Saturday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been expanded into Clark and Cumberland counties...and for six other counties in southeast Illinois until 6 am Saturday.

Here are the latest details:

  • Locations: Along and south of the Interstate 70 corridor...with the heaviest totals south of a line from Louisville to Newton to Hutsonville.

  • Timing: Snow will begin continue Friday evening, with most of the accumulation prior to midnight. The snow will taper to flurries before daybreak Saturday.

  • Accumulations: 2 to 3 inches along Interstate 70, and 4 to 6 inches along and south of a line from Louisville to Hutsonville (see graphic).
  • Impacts: Untreated roads, bridges, sidewalks and parking lots will become slippery this evening. The wind is expected to be light, so blowing snow is not anticipated.
