Severe Flooding Over Portions of Central Illinois and Possible RECORD FLOODING on the Illinois River

Very heavy rainfall on Wednesday, through the day on Thursday, has brought severe flooding to areas along and northwest of the Illinois River eastward into Tazewell, Woodford, and Marshall Counties.  Numerous road closures were reported from this area and those traveling should expect detours.  DO NOT try to cross sections of highways that are underwater, as the roadway may be washed away under the water.

RECORD LEVEL FLOODING is now forecast along the ILLINOIS RIVER through the next several days.  Many other rivers over the region are expected to also reach moderate to major flooding levels.
