...HEAVY RAIN FOR CENTRAL AND PARTS OF SOUTHEAST ILLINOIS TODAY THROUGH
 EARLY THIS EVENING...

PERIODS OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST
ILLINOIS THROUGH EARLY TONIGHT AS A STRONG STORM SYSTEM MOVES ACROSS
THE AREA. A COLD FRONT WILL PUSH ACROSS ILLINOIS THIS AFTERNOON...TRIGGERING
THUNDERSTORMS WITH ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN.

RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL BE THE GREATEST ALONG AND NORTH OF A SPRINGFIELD TO
CHAMPAIGN LINE...WHERE AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN WILL FALL ON TOP OF
WHAT HAS ALREADY OCCURRED IN THIS AREA FROM THE STORMS YESTERDAY EVENING.
STORM TOTALS IN A FEW LOCATIONS MAY RANGE FROM 2.50 TO OVER 3 INCHES BY THE
TIME THE RAIN MOVES OUT THIS EVENING.

HEAVY RAIN WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE AT TIMES OVER THE REMAINDER OF EAST CENTRAL
AND SOUTHEAST ILLINOIS. THE AMOUNTS WILL BE LOWER FARTHER TO THE EAST AND
SOUTH...WITH AMOUNTS OF 1.25 TO 1.5 INCHES OF RAIN POSSIBLE.

WITH THE VERY DRY CONDITIONS THAT HAD PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED OVER THE AREA
AREA...THE GROUND IS EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO HANDLE MOST OF THIS HEAVY RAIN.
HOWEVER...WHERE SOME OF THE MORE INTENSE RAINFALL RATES OCCUR WITH THE
STRONGER THUNDERSTORMS...PONDING OF WATER WILL LIKELY OCCUR.

...Additional Rainfall Expected Today through This Evening...
