Another period of occasional rain will affect central and southeast Illinois through Wednesday evening. A cold front over the central plains will push slowly east tonight and Wednesday. This will allow plenty of moisture to stream north into the midwest ahead of the frontal system. Showers will move into Illinois tonight and continue over the region into Wednesday. The front will gradually cross the state Wednesday, allowing the rain to gradually diminish and move east of the area Wednesday night.
Rainfall amounts with this system are expected to be the greatest over the eastern third of central Illinois, where amounts of .75 to 1.25 inches will be possible. Over the remainder of the area, between 0.50 and 0.80 tenths of an inch will be possible.
Expected rainfall amounts for Tuesday through Wednesday night.
