Will There Be a White Christmas This Year?

Will central and southeast Illinois be seeing a White Christmas? This is defined as having at least 1 inch of snow on the ground Christmas morning. Most areas west of a Rushville to Peoria to Henry line already have at least 1 inch on the ground, so the answer in those areas is "yes". A fast moving storm system is likely produce an inch or two of snow late tonight across the northern half of Illinois, including around Havana, Peoria, and Bloomington, so chances of a White Christmas are good in those areas. Further south toward the I-72 corridor, prospects are more questionable, as it currently appears the snow will be closer to 1/2 inch or less. Areas south of I-70 will likely miss out on the snow.
