Central Indiana experienced rain and much below normal temperatures for several days in the first half of May. Temperatures averaged more than 10 degrees below normal from the 11th through the 14th, and measurable rain fell from the 10th through the 14th.
The maximum temperature for May 12 at the Indianapolis International Airport was 49 degrees, which made it the coldest high temperature on record for the date. On May 13 another record was set for coldest high temperature, when the high only reached 50 degrees. This broke a record that had been around for 111 years.
