Storm survey investigations remain ongoing in central Indiana and now indicate 3 tornadoes occurrred the evening of June 3.
A tornado with EF3 damage intensity and wind speeds near 150 mph touched down around 909 P.M. EDT near Waldron in Shelby county and continued into the town of Moscow in Rush County. This tornado was EF0 intensity at Waldron and Middletown in Shelby County then intensified to EF3 strength near Moscow. Dozens of buildings were damaged or destroyed in and near Moscow. This tornado lifted just east of Moscow.
A second tornado of EF2 damage intensity with maximum winds around 130 mph touched down around 929 P.M. EDT near Peoga in northeast Brown County. This tornado continued east into Camp Atterbury, reaching EF2 intensity, damaging around 40 buildings at an estimated $10 million in damage according to military officials at the Base. The tornado continued east into Edinburgh at EF1 strength, damaging dozens of buildings. This tornado lifted near Interstate 65 exit 80.
A third tornado of EF1 damage intensity was determined to have occurred near Clarksburg in northeast Decatur County. This tornado was estimated to have touchdown around 9:55 pm EDT at CR500N and CR400E. The tornado had a damage path around 100 yards wide and lifted around CR640N and CR800E.
County and State Homeland Security officials have preliminary counts on the number of buildings damaged or destroyed.
