Lightning Injury Occurs in Fishers

According to this article by the Indianapolis Star, a person staying at a hotel in Fishers was injured by electric shock received while using a corded telephone when lightning struck the building on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 26th.  Other lightning strikes sparked structural fires yesterday afternoon and evening.  This injury is a prime example of why all are advised to avoid using corded appliances and being in close contact with plumbing fixtures during a thunderstorm.  This and other safety tips can be found at the NWS Lightning Safety website.  Other links are also available on our Lightning Safety Awareness Week news story.
