This image shows the outlook for the United States precipitation this winter season. Green colors indicate areas of an enhanced likelihood of wetter than normal conditions. Brown areas reflect areas of an enhanced likelihood for drier than normal conditions. White areas marked "EC" show where there are equal chances of above, below, or near normal values of precipitation this winter.

This image, the Local Three Month Temperature Outlook graph, shows the respective likelihoods for above, below, or near normal temperatures in the Indianapolis area during the upcoming 2008-09 winter season.  This graph is available for 11 locations in Central Indiana and for all seasons for the next year. A final note...

While an enhanced likelihood of warmer than normal weather is in the winter outlook for this upcoming season, it bears noting that this is an average of a 90 day period. This certainly does not mean that there will be no cold weather this winter, in fact residents should expect that there will still be cold periods this winter season. An outlook for a 90 day period simply indicates an enhanced likelihood that the average for the entire winter season will be above normal.
