Central Indiana experienced some wild weather during the December 21-28 time frame. Temperatures were near zero to start out the period, but climbed to record levels near 70 on December 28. High temperatures on December 27 broke records and were around 35 degrees above the normal high for the date. Freezing rain caused havoc for travelers on December 23, with many locations receiving about a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation. Less than a week later, high winds and thunderstorms knocked down trees and damaged some buildings on December 27 and early December 28.
