Flood Stage Lowered for Eel River at Bowling Green

The National Weather Service at Indianapolis announced today that flood stage for the Eel River at Bowling Green in Clay County Indiana will be 15 feet.  Flood stage previously had been 17 feet.

A recent observational study to Clay County revealed flooding occurring when the river level was 16 feet…a foot below the old flood stage.   The flood stage was lowered because of this information.

Flood forecasts for the Eel River at Bowling Green are issued when the river nears flood stage.  This change will mean that river flood warnings will be issued a little more frequently for northeast Clay County.  This will provide better service to the residents near Bowling Green.
