NWS Indianapolis, in conjunction with the Indiana State Climate Office and Purdue University, hosted a Climate Services Workshop Thursday, June 23 and Friday, June 24 in Indianapolis. The goals of the workshop were to strengthen and expand relationships, increase communication, and better assess the needs of our partners in the area of climate services across the state of Indiana. Discussions and presentations focused on climate outreach, decision support services, research, and drought services and detection. Attendees at the workshop included NWS and NOAA personnel, Purdue University, the Midwest Regional Climate Center, USGS, National Drought Mitigation Center, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and the Purdue Agricultural Extension Offices. The workshop assisted in fulfilling the National Weather Service organizational goals within our Strategic Plan for the enhancement and further development of climate services.
