IT WAS A COLD AND SNOWY MONTH ACROSS EASTERN KENTUCKY TO START THE
NEW YEAR. BOTH THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE AND THE LONDON CORBIN
AIRPORT ENDED UP SEVEN DEGREES BELOW NORMAL FOR JANUARY. IN
FACT...IT WAS THE THIRD COLDEST JANUARY AT JACKSON...AND TENTH
COLDEST JANUARY AT LONDON. JACKSON RECORDED FIVE DAYS LAST MONTH AT
0 OR BELOW. THIS IS THE MOST EVER IN JANUARY...AND TIED FOR FIRST
FOR MOST IN A WINTER. LONDON SAW THREE DAYS AT 0 OR BELOW...THE MOST
RECORDED IN THE LAST 20 YEARS. EVEN THOUGH THE JACKSON WEATHER
OFFICE AND THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT WERE DRIER THAN NORMAL...IT WAS
THE FIFTH SNOWIEST JANUARY AT JACKSON. NO SNOWFALL INFORMATION IS
AVAILABLE FOR THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT. JACKSON FINISHED LAST MONTH
NEARLY A HALF AN INCH DRIER THAN NORMAL...WHILE LONDON WAS A LITTLE
OVER AN INCH AND A QUARTER BELOW NORMAL.

2014 WAS THE 3RD COLDEST JANUARY...AND 4TH COLDEST OF ALL TIME. OF
SPECIAL NOTE IS THAT THE 17.3 DEGREE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE IS THE
COLDEST JANUARY LOW TEMPERATURE AVERAGE FOR JACKSON...BESTING THE
17.7 DEGREES FROM 1985. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR JANUARY 2014 WAS
59 DEGREES...AND OCCURRED ON THE 11TH. NO DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE
RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED LAST MONTH. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE FROM
JANUARY 2014 WAS -7 DEGREES ON THE 7TH...WHICH ESTABLISHED A NEW
