...COLD AND WET FEBRUARY EXPERIENCED AT JACKSON...

THE END OF FEBRUARY MARKED THE END TO METEOROLOGICAL WINTER. THANKS
IN MOST PART TO A BRUTALLY COLD JANUARY...JACKSON AND LONDON WERE
COLDER THAN NORMAL. THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE HAD A MEAN
WINTER TEMPERATURE OF 34.6 DEGREES...WHICH IS 2.6 DEGREES BELOW THE
NORMAL OF 37.2 DEGREES. THIS MAKES THE WINTER OF 2013-14 THE FIFTH
COLDEST WINTER ON RECORD. THE MEAN TEMPERATURE AT LONDON WAS 35.5
DEGREES...WHICH IS 2.3 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 37.8 DEGREES.
THIS PLACES THE 2013-14 WINTER AS THE 25TH COLDEST ON RECORD. A BIG
REASON THAT LONDON/S WINTER IS SO MUCH FARTHER DOWN THE COLDEST
WINTER LIST IS BECAUSE THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE DID NOT OPEN UNTIL
1980...MISSING A NUMBER OF COLD WINTERS THAT LONDON HAS SEEN BETWEEN
1954 AND 1980...NOTABLY THE WINTERS OF 1976-77 AND 1977-78. WETTER
THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS EXISTED AT BOTH LOCATIONS DURING
DECEMBER...JANUARY AND FEBRUARY. LONDON TALLIED 12.95
INCHES...WHICH IS 1.46 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 11.49 INCHES.
JACKSON FINISHED WITH A SEASONAL TOTAL OF 14.71 INCHES...WHICH IS
3.17 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 11.54 INCHES. THE WINTER OF 2013-14
WAS THE 5TH WETTEST WINTER AT JACKSON. JACKSON MEASURED 24.1 INCHES
OF SNOW THIS WINTER...WHICH IS THE EIGHTH GREATEST SEASONAL
TOTAL...AND 5.1 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. NO SNOWFALL INFORMATION IS
AVAILABLE FOR THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT.

COLDER AND WETTER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS EXISTED AT BOTH JACKSON AND
LONDON DURING FEBRUARY 2014. THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE WAS OVER

THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH WETTER...WHILE LONDON WAS JUST OVER A HALF
AN INCH ABOVE NORMAL. JACKSON ALSO SAW FEBRUARY 2014 TIED AS THE
SEVENTH WETTEST FEBRUARY. LAST MONTH WAS ALSO THE NINTH SNOWIEST
FEBRUARY ON RECORD AT JACKSON. NO SNOWFALL INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE
