East Kentucky Broadcasting becomes a Weather Ready Nation Ambassador!

The Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador™ initiative is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) effort to formally recognize NOAA partners who are improving the nation’s readiness, responsiveness, and overall resilience against extreme weather, water, and climate events.

East Kentucky Broadcasting, located in Pikeville, KY, has become the first Weather Ready Nation Ambassador in eastern Kentucky!  Operating nine radio stations reaching into much of eastern Kentucky, parts of West Virginia and Virginia, and running programming on their own television channel, which airs in at least 40,000 homes, EKB is able reach a large number of listeners and viewers with weather warnings and safety information.  The National Weather Service looks forward to partnering with EKB in the future in an effort to make a Weather Ready east Kentucky!

Any organization across all levels of government, businesses large and small, non-profit and non-governmental organizations, and academia can become a Weather Ready Nation Ambassador. The WRN Ambassador initiative is intended for organizations and designed to help serve the public by strengthening our national resilience against extreme weather events.  To find out more, go to http://www.nws.noaa.gov/com/weatherreadynation/ambassadors.html.
