Student Artists Reflect on the March 2, 2012 Tornado Outbreak

Today, March 2,  marks the three year anniversary of the historic tornado outbreak that brought widespread destruction to eastern Kentucky, including the cities of West Liberty and Salyersville. Over the past couple of years the Jackson National Weather Service Office has been involved in a project with the Magoffin County Schools that not only provides severe weather education, but also gives students the opportunity to reflect about their experiences through art and writing.

To observe the three year anniversary of the March 2 tornado outbreak we wanted to share some of the artwork from students in the Magoffin County Schools. This art can serve as encouragement to us all as we prepare for the upcoming spring severe weather season. Additional artwork from students will be posted during the month of March.
