Second Driest and Warmest Year at Jackson

FROM JANUARY THROUGH NOVEMBER...2007 WAS THE DRIEST YEAR FOR THE
FIRST 11 MONTHS OF THE YEAR BY OVER AN INCH AND A HALF AT THE
JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE. BUT THANKS TO A WETTER THAN NORMAL
DECEMBER...2007 FINISHED UP AS THE SECOND DRIEST YEAR. JACKSON
TOTALED 35.46 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION...ONLY BEHIND THE 34.37 INCHES
FROM 2001. JACKSON NORMALLY SEES 49.38 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION OVER
THE COURSE OF A CALENDER YEAR. JACKSON ALSO SAW 2007 TIE FOR THE
SECOND WARMEST YEAR...WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 58.5 DEGREES.
THIS TEMPERATURE TIED 1991...AND WAS ONLY A TENTH OF A DEGREE BEHIND
1990/S 58.6 DEGREES. JACKSON TYPICALLY AVERAGES 55.9 DEGREES.

AT THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT...THE YEAR END DATA IS INCOMPLETE DUE
TO A SENSOR OUTAGE FOR TWO DAYS IN EARLY APRIL. ALTHOUGH USING
AVAILABLE DATA...LONDON AVERAGED 59.3 DEGREES AND TOTALED 32.32
INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FOR 2007. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE
DIFFERENCE IN THE TEMPERATURE DATA IS LIKELY MINIMAL...BUT THE
PRECIPITATION TOTAL IS NOTABLY OFF DUE TO PRECIPITATION OCCURRING
OVER SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY DURING THE OUTAGE PERIOD.
NORMALLY...LONDON HAS A MEAN ANNUAL TEMPERATURE OF 56.0
DEGREES...AND TOTALS 47.41 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION A YEAR. OF
FURTHER NOTE...IN 1999...LONDON TOTALED 27.11 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION AND HAD A MEAN TEMPERATURE OF 60.5 DEGREES...MAKING
1999 THE WARMEST YEAR AND DRIEST YEAR ON RECORD AT LONDON.

HERE’S THE RAW DATA FROM 2007 FOR JACKSON AND LONDON...
