EVEN THOUGH JANUARY 2007 ENDED ON A COLD NOTE...THE FIRST HALF OF
LAST MONTH WAS WELL ABOVE NORMAL...ENSURING THAT BOTH THE JACKSON
WEATHER OFFICE AND THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT FINISHED UP MUCH WARMER
THAN NORMAL FOR THE MONTH. JACKSON FINISHED JANUARY 2007 OVER 4
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...AND LONDON ENDED UP LAST MONTH IN EXCESS OF 5
DEGREES WARMER. JANUARY 2007 WAS THE 8TH WARMEST AT LONDON...WHILE
LAST MONTH WAS THE 9TH WARMEST JANUARY AT JACKSON. ONCE AGAIN...DRY
CONDITIONS WERE PRESENT ACROSS EASTERN KENTUCKY WITH LONDON NEARLY
ONE AND A QUARTER INCHES DRIER THAN NORMAL...AND JACKSON ALMOST
THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH BELOW NORMAL FOR JANUARY. JANUARY 2007 WAS
THE THIRD MONTH IN A ROW OF BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION AT BOTH
LOCATIONS. SINCE NOVEMBER 1ST 2006...LONDON IS 4.22 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL...AND JACKSON IS 4.74 INCHES DRIER.
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE NEAR JACKSON FINISHED JANUARY
2007 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 38.1 DEGREES...WHICH IS 4.2
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH WAS 46.0 DEGREES...AND
THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW WAS 30.2 DEGREES. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR
JANUARY 2007 WAS 68 DEGREES AND OCCURRED ON THE 1ST...AND
ESTABLISHED A NEW DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORD FOR THAT DATE.
ANOTHER DAILY HIGH RECORD WAS SET ON THE 15TH WITH 64 DEGREES. THE
LOWEST TEMPERATURE FROM LAST MONTH WAS 7 DEGREES...WHICH HAPPENED ON
THE 31ST. ONE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE RECORD WAS SET LAST MONTH WITH A
READING OF 11 DEGREES ON THE 29TH. A MINIMUM HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORD
WAS ESTABLISHED ON THE 29TH WITH A READING OF 29 DEGREES. 53 DEGREES
ON THE 13TH BROKE THE MAXIMUM LOW TEMPERATURE RECORD FOR ITS DATE.
THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE RECEIVED 2.83 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION IN
JANUARY 2007...WHICH IS 0.73 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 3.56
INCHES. THERE WERE 16 DAYS WHEN A HUNDREDTH OF AN INCH OR MORE OF
PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED...AND 7 DAYS WHEN A TENTH OF AN INCH OR

WAS RECEIVED...AND NO DAYS SAW MORE THAN ONE INCH. THE DAY OF THE
