Straight Line Wind Damage Confirmed in Montgomery County February 6th 2008

...STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE CONFIRMED IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY EARLY
WEDNESDAY MORNING ON FEBRUARY 6 2008...

A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DAMAGE ASSESSMENT TEAM DETERMINED THAT
DAMAGE IN NORTHEAST MONTGOMERY COUNTY WAS DUE TO STRAIGHT LINE WINDS
BETWEEN 80 AND 90 MPH.

DAMAGE WAS CONCENTRATED BETWEEN EXIT 113 OFF OF INTERSTATE 64 AND
QUISENBERRY ROAD OFF OF STEPSTONE ROAD. SEVERAL OLDER BARNS AND
OUTBUILDINGS WERE HEAVILY DAMAGED OR DESTROYED...SEVERAL TREES WERE
UPROOTED AND SNAPPED...INCLUDING SOME HARDWOOD TREES. THE HEAVIEST
DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED OFF OF NORTH COONS PIKE JUST NORTH OF
INTERSTATE 64...WHERE A WELL CONSTRUCTED BARN WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED
AND SEVERAL TREES WERE UPROOTED AND SNAPPED...INCLUDING A HARDWOOD
TREE.
