...STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS...

A STORM SURVEY TEAM FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN
JACKSON KY TRAVELED TO PIKE COUNTY TODAY TO CONDUCT A STORM SURVEY
OF DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED ON THE EVENING OF APRIL 7TH. WIND DAMAGE WAS
REPORTED IN NUMEROUS AREAS. ALL OF THE AREAS SURVEYED HAD STRAIGHT
LINE WIND DAMAGE.

IN THE COMMUNITY OF COAL RUN...STRAIGHT LINE WINDS ESTIMATED AT
AROUND 70 MPH OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 530 PM EDT. LARGE LIMBS WERE
BLOWN OFF AND SEVERAL TREES WERE DOWNED. A BILLBOARD WAS BLOWN
PARTIALLY OVER NEAR THE STATE POLICE POST IN A SOUTHEASTERLY
DIRECTION.

IN THE COMMUNITY OF ZEBULON...NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF U.S. 119 AND
KY 1441...STRAIGHT LINE WINDS ESTIMATED AROUND 70 MPH BLEW A
BILLBOARD OVER. A FEW SHINGLES AND SECTIONS OF EDGING WERE ALSO
BLOWN OFF OF A COUPLE OF HOMES. UNDERPINNING TO MOBILE HOMES WAS
DISPLACED OR BLOWN AWAY. THE DAMAGE OCCURRED AROUND 535 PM EDT.

IN THE COMMUNITY OF TURKEY CREEK...ALONG KY HIGHWAY 612...STRAIGHT
LINE WINDS ESTIMATED AROUND 60 MPH OCCURRED BETWEEN 535 AND 540 PM.
A PARTIALLY ANCHORED CARPORT WAS LIFTED UP SIX TO EIGHT INCHES. AN
UNANCHORED CARPORT WAS DESTROYED. SEVERAL TREES WERE DOWNED. AN
UNANCHORED PORCH WAS LIFTED OFF A HOUSE AND DESTROYED. WIND ALSO
BLEW SOME SHINGLES OFF OF THIS HOME.

IN THE COMMUNITY OF SOUTH WILLIAMSON...STRAIGHT LINE WINDS ESTIMATED
AT 75 TO 85 MPH OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 538 PM EDT. A MOBILE HOME
AT THE SOUTH SIDE MALL THAT CONTAINED A BUSINESS WAS TURNED ON ITS
SIDE. SEVERAL ROAD SIGNS WERE BLOWN DOWN NEAR THE WEST VIRGINIA
STATE LINE ALONG U.S. 119. NEAR THE INTERSECTION WITH KY HIGHWAY
292. A BILLBOARD WAS ALSO BLOWN OVER. SECTIONS OF EDGING...
MOLDING...GUTTERS AND SHINGLES WERE BLOWN OFF OF SEVERAL HOMES. AT A
MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING...SECTIONS OF SHINGLES AND ROOFING MATERIAL
WAS BLOWN OFF. AIR CONDITIONING UNITS WERE SHIFTED AND SOME BRICKS
NEAR ROOF LEVEL WERE BLOWN OFF. ALL OF THE DAMAGE IN THE SOUTH
WILLIAMSON AREA WAS IN A DIVERGENT PATTERN TO THE SOUTH AND
SOUTHEAST CONSISTENT WITH STRAIGHT LINE WINDS.

ALONG JOHNS CREEK...KY 194...TO THE SOUTH OF U.S. 119...STRAIGHT
LINE WINDS ESTIMATED AT 60 TO 70 MPH...BLEW SIDING OFF OF A BUILDING
AT A COAL MINE OPERATION...A FEW SHINGLES OFF OF HOMES...
UNDERPINNING OFF OF MOBILE HOMES AND DOWNED TREES AND LARGE LIMBS.
THIS DAMAGE LIKELY OCCURRED JUST BEFORE 540 PM EDT.

IN THE KIMPER AREA...AROUND 540 PM EDT...NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF
MEATHOUSE FORK ROAD AND KY 194...STRAIGHT LINE WINDS ESTIMATED AT 75
TO 85 MPH OCCURRED. TREES WERE BLOWN DOWN OR UPROOTED AND SEVERAL
LARGE LIMBS WERE BLOWN DOWN. SECTIONS OF SHINGLES...GUTTERING AND
DRIP EDGING TO A HOME WAS BLOWN DOWN. AT A MOBILE HOME PARK...
UNDERPINNING TO SOME MOBILE HOMES BLEW AWAY...PIECES OF SIDING TO
TWO MOBILE HOMES WAS BLOWN OFF...TWO UNANCHORED OUTBUILDINGS WERE
DEMOLISHED...AND A MOBILE HOME THAT WAS UNINHABITED AND UNANCHORED
WAS DESTROYED WITH PARTS OF IT BLOWN AWAY WITH DEBRIS COMING TO REST
IN TREES AND ON THE GROUND TO THE SOUTH OF HIGHWAY 194. A PARTIALLY
ANCHORED MOBILE HOME AT THE SAME MOBILE HOME PARK WAS ROLLED ONTO
ITS SIDE...RESTING ON AN AUTOMOBILE. THE REST OF THE MOBILE HOMES IN
THE PARK WERE SHIFTED SLIGHTLY. THE DEBRIS WAS BLOWN IN A DIVERGENT
PATTERN IN A SOUTHERLY TO SOUTHWESTERLY DIRECTION...CONSISTENT WITH
STRAIGHT LINE WINDS. ANOTHER NEARBY MOBILE HOME OFF OF MEATHOUSE
FORK HAD A FEW SHINGLES BLOWN OFF.

IN THE COMMUNITY OF FREEBURN...THE PIKE COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGER
CONFIRMED STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE OCCURRED AROUND 545 PM EDT.
ROOFS TO SEVERAL MOBILE HOMES WERE DAMAGED OR BLOWN OFF AND SOME
WINDOWS WERE BLOWN OUT. ESTIMATED WIND SPEEDS THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS
TYPE OF DAMAGE ARE AROUND 70 MPH.
