July 2007 Drier and Cooler than Normal across Eastern Kentucky

THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE AND THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT BOTH
FINISHED UP JULY 2007 LESS THAN ONE DEGREE BELOW NORMAL. EVEN THOUGH
JULY 2007 WAS JUST A LITTLE BELOW NORMAL...IT IS NOTABLE WHEN
COMPARED TO HOW MUCH ABOVE NORMAL MAY AND JUNE OF THIS YEAR WERE. IN
FACT...BOTH MAY AND JUNE 2007 RANKED IN THE WARMEST TEN MAYS AND
JUNES ON RECORD AT JACKSON AND LONDON. LONDON SAW A NOTABLE STREAK
END IN JULY AS WELL. THROUGH JULY 11TH...LONDON HAD 52 CONSECUTIVE
DAYS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE AT LEAST REACHED 81 DEGREES. ONLY A RUN OF
59 DAYS THROUGH EARLY AUGUST OF 1993 HAD SEEN MORE DAYS IN A ROW OF
AT LEAST 81 DEGREES. ON THE PRECIPITATION SIDE OF THE FENCE...BOTH
JACKSON AND LONDON ENDED JULY AT LITTLE MORE THAN A HALF AN INCH
DRIER THAN NORMAL. EVEN THOUGH BOTH LOCATIONS FINISHED UP BELOW
NORMAL...THE PRECIPITATION TOTALS FROM JULY 2007 WERE THE GREATEST
MONTHLY AMOUNTS SINCE OCTOBER OF 2006.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE NEAR JACKSON FINISHED JULY 2007
WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 74.1 DEGREES...WHICH IS 0.9 DEGREES
BELOW THE NORMAL OF 75.0 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH WAS 83.9
DEGREES...AND THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW WAS 64.4 DEGREES. EVEN THOUGH
LAST MONTH WAS LESS THAN ONE DEGREE BELOW NORMAL...JULY 2007 RANKS
AS THE 8TH COOLEST JULY ON RECORD. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR JULY
2007 WAS 90 DEGREES AND OCCURRED ON THE 9TH...15TH...17TH AND 18TH.
NO HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED AT JACKSON LAST MONTH.
THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE FROM LAST MONTH WAS 57 DEGREES...AND OCCURRED
ON THE 2ND AND THE 21ST. THE 57 DEGREES ON THE 21ST ESTABLISHED A

DEGREES...AND ON THE 26TH WITH 62 DEGREES. MINIMUM HIGH TEMPERATURE
BENCHMARKS WERE SET ON THE 24TH WITH 74 DEGREES...AND ON THE 28TH
WITH 72 DEGREES.

THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE RECEIVED 4.05 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION
IN JULY 2007...WHICH IS 0.54 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 4.59 INCHES.

WERE 21 DAYS WITH FOG...5 OF WHICH FEATURED DENSE FOG. JULY NORMALLY
