BOTH THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE AND THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT ENDED
JUNE 2008 WARMER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL. JACKSON FINISHED LAST MONTH
AVERAGING ALMOST TWO DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...WHILE LONDON WAS NEARLY
THREE DEGREES WARMER. IN FACT JUNE 2008 FINISHED IN THE TOP TEN
WARMEST JUNES AT BOTH LOCATIONS...WITH LONDON IN 4TH PLACE...WHILE
JACKSON TIED 2002 FOR THE 9TH WARMEST. ON THE PRECIPITATION SIDE OF
THE FENCE...DRIER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS CONTINUED ACROSS EASTERN
KENTUCKY LAST MONTH. THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT ENDED JUNE NEARLY TWO
INCHES BELOW NORMAL...WHILE THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE HAD A NEARLY
THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH DEFICIT. BOTH JACKSON AND LONDON SAW JUNE
2008 AS THEIR 10TH DRIEST JUNES ON RECORD. FIVE OF THE LAST SIX
MONTHS HAVE FINISHED DRIER THAN NORMAL AT BOTH LOCATIONS.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE NEAR JACKSON FINISHED JUNE
2008 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 73.2 DEGREES...WHICH IS 1.8
DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 71.4 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH WAS
82.9 DEGREES...AND THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW WAS 63.5 DEGREES. THE
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR JUNE 2008 WAS 91 DEGREES...WHICH OCCURRED ON
THE 6TH...AND ALSO TIED THE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORD FOR THAT
DAY. 90 DEGREES ON THE 5TH AND 8TH ESTABLISHED NEW DAILY HIGH
RECORDS FOR THOSE DATES AS WELL...WHILE 90 DEGREES ON THE 9TH TIED
THE DAILY HIGH BENCHMARK. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE LAST MONTH WAS 53
DEGREES ON THE 18TH. 55 DEGREES ON THE 19TH TIED THE DAILY LOW

WERE 17 DAYS WITH FOG...FOUR OF WHICH FEATURED DENSE FOG. JUNE
NORMALLY AVERAGES 7.5 DAYS OF DENSE FOG. 20,495 MINUTES OF SUNSHINE
WERE RECORDED LAST MONTH WHICH IS 77 PERCENT OF ALL POSSIBLE
SUNSHINE FOR THE MONTH. THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR JUNE WAS 2.2
MPH...AND THE HIGHEST WIND GUST OF 36 MPH WAS RECORDED ON JUNE 28TH.
