THE WETTER THAN NORMAL DECEMBER DID MANAGE TO ALLEVIATE THE DROUGHT
CONDITIONS THAT CONTINUE TO PLAGUE EASTERN KENTUCKY. THE JACKSON
WEATHER OFFICE ENDED LAST MONTH OVER TWO AND A HALF INCHES ABOVE
NORMAL...WHILE THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT MANAGED TO FINISH DECEMBER
A LITTLE OVER FOUR TENTHS OF AN INCH WETTER. TEMPERATUREWISE...LAST
MONTH ENDED UP NEAR OR SLIGHTLY WARMER THAN NORMAL...THANKS TO A
NICE BALANCE OF UNSEASONABLY WARM AND COLD DAYS.

THE BIG STORY FOR 2008 WILL BE THE MUCH DRIER THAN NORMAL
CONDITIONS. LONDON ONLY MANAGED TO TOTAL 35.12 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION THROUGHOUT 2008...WHICH IS AN INCREDIBLE 12.29 INCHES
BELOW THE ANNUAL NORMAL OF 47.41 INCHES. THIS AMOUNT RANKED AS THE
FOURTH DRIEST YEAR. JACKSON ENDED LAST YEAR WITH A TOTAL OF 40.50
INCHES...WHICH IS 8.88 INCHES DRIER THAN THE YEARLY AVERAGE OF 49.38
INCHES. 2008 RANKED AS THE 9TH DRIEST YEAR AT JACKSON. BOTH LONDON
AND JACKSON SAW NINE MONTHS LAST YEAR END UP DRIER THAN
NORMAL...WITH ONLY APRIL...JULY AND DECEMBER BEING WETTER THAN
AVERAGE. FURTHERMORE...OF THE NINE DRIER THAN NORMAL MONTHS AT
LONDON...EIGHT OF THESE FINISHED WITH DEFICITS GREATER THAN ONE
INCH. LAST YEAR/S TEMPERATURES ENDED UP JUST SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL
AT BOTH JACKSON AND LONDON. THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE HAD AN
AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 65.7 DEGREES AND AN AVERAGE LOW OF
46.2 DEGREES. THE MEAN TEMPERATURE WAS 56.0 DEGREES...WHICH IS 0.1

OF RAIN WAS RECEIVED...AND TWO DAYS WITH MORE THAN ONE INCH. THE DAY
