Unseasonably Cool Conditions Continue...

A DEEP UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE EASTERN U.S.
CONTINUES TO BRING UNSEASONABLY COOL CONDITIONS TO EASTERN KENTUCKY.
THE LOW TEMPERATURE AT THE JACKSON NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE
ON SATURDAY WAS 55 DEGREES. THIS BROKE THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 59
DEGREES WHICH WAS SET IN 1989. ALSO... SATURDAY/S HIGH TEMPERATURE
OF ONLY 69 DEGREES SHATTERED THE PREVIOUS MINIMUM HIGH TEMPERATURE
RECORD OF 75 DEGREES WHICH WAS SET BACK IN 2001. AT THE LONDON
CORBIN AIRPORT... THE LOW TEMPERATURE SATURDAY MORNING WAS 54
DEGREES... 4 DEGREES ABOVE THE RECORD FOR THE DATE... BUT THE HIGH
TEMPERATURE WAS ONLY 72 DEGREES... SMASHING THE PREVIOUS RECORD
MINIMUM HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 77 DEGREES WHICH WAS SET BACK IN 2001.

SO FAR TODAY TEMPERATURES ACROSS EASTERN KENTUCKY ARE ON PACE TO
BREAK RECORDS AGAIN. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN JACKSON
ECLIPSED THE RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE EARLY THIS MORNING
WHEN THE MERCURY DIPPED TO 54 DEGREES. THE PREVIOUS RECORD LOW
TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE WAS 58 DEGREES SET IN 1984. AS OF 3 PM...
THE HIGH TEMPERATURE AT JACKSON HAS ONLY BEEN 70 DEGREES. IT
THEREFORE APPEARS HIGHLY LIKELY THAT WE WILL ONCE AGAIN BREAK A
MINIMUM HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORD FOR THE DATE AS THE CURRENT RECORD
REMAINS A 76 DEGREE READING SET ON THIS DATE BACK IN 2000. IF THIS
OCCURS IT WILL BE THE 5TH RECORD MINIMUM HIGH TEMPERATURE
ESTABLISHED THIS MONTH ALONE AT JACKSON. TODAY/S TEMPERATURE IS ON
PACE TO BEST A MINIMUM HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORD AT THE LONDON CORBIN
AIRPORT AS WELL. AS OF 3 PM... THE HIGH TEMPERATURE AT THAT STATION
HAS ONLY BEEN 70 DEGREES. THE CURRENT DAILY RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE
AT LONDON IS 77 DEGREES SET BACK IN 1974.

OTHER NOTABLE TEMPERATURES FROM AROUND THE REGION YESTERDAY AND THIS
MORNING INCLUDE...

AS FAR AS THE FORECAST GOES... MORE RECORD COOL TEMPERATURES ARE
EXPECTED TONIGHT AND POSSIBLY AGAIN ON MONDAY. THE RECORD LOW
TEMPERATURE AT JACKSON MONDAY MORNING IS 58 DEGREES SET IN 2000. THE
FORECAST LOW IS 58. THE RECORD MINIMUM HIGH AT JACKSON ON MONDAY IS
76 DEGREES SET IN 2000. THE FORECAST HIGH IS 76. AT LONDON THE
RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE MONDAY MORNING IS 55 DEGREES SET IN 1965. THE
FORECAST LOW IS 53 DEGREES. THE RECORD MINIMUM HIGH AT LONDON ON
MONDAY IS 74 DEGREES SET IN 1979. THE FORECAST HIGH IS 77 DEGREES.

ALTHOUGH AN OVERALL WARMING TREND IS THEN EXPECTED INTO THE MIDDLE
OF THE WEEK... IT APPEARS LIKE EAST KENTUCKY CAN EXPECT BELOW NORMAL
TEMPERATURES TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS.

NOTES... NORMAL HIGH TEMPERATURES FOR MID TO LATE JULY ARE IN THE
MID 80S WHILE NORMAL LOW TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE MID 60S. CLIMATE
RECORDS FOR THE JACKSON NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE DATE BACK TO
1981. CLIMATE RECORDS FOR THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT DATE BACK TO
1954.
