Heavy Rainfall & Severe Thunderstorms Pound East Kentucky on Tuesday

Two separate rounds of thunderstorms pounded east Kentucky on Tuesday August 4th.  Not only did the storms drop as much as 3 inches of rainfall in some areas, producing flooding, but damaging winds were also reported in several locations.

Below is a map depicting rainfall amounts for the event for several locations across eastern Kentucky.  The plotted amounts are reports received from select IFLOWS gages, as well as Kentucky Mesonet and Cooperative Weather Observer stations in the NWS Jackson Forecast Area.
