OF 2009 GOES DOWN AS MUCH WETTER THAN NORMAL...THANKS TO THE MONTHS
OF JUNE AND JULY SEEING ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION TOTALS. THE
JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE FINISHED UP WITH A TOTAL OF 16.98
INCHES...WHICH IS 3.59 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 13.39 INCHES. THE
LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT TALLIED 15.01 INCHES...WHICH IS 3.02 INCHES
WETTER THAN THE NORMAL OF 11.99 INCHES. THE SUMMER OF 2009 WAS THE
THIRD WETTEST SUMMER AT JACKSON...WHILE IT WAS THE 10TH WETTEST AT
LONDON. COOLER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES WERE ALSO NOTED AT BOTH
LOCATIONS. JACKSON HAD A MEAN SUMMER TEMPERATURE OF 71.9
DEGREES...WHICH IS 1.5 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 73.4 DEGREES. AT
LONDON...THE AVERAGE SUMMER TEMPERATURE WAS 73.0 DEGREES...WHICH IS
EXACTLY ONE DEGREE BELOW THE NORMAL OF 74.0 DEGREES. ALSO...THE
SUMMER OF 2009 WAS THE THIRD COOLEST SUMMER AT JACKSON. EVEN THOUGH
LONDON WAS A DEGREE COOLER THAN NORMAL...IT WAS ONLY THE 18TH
COOLEST SUMMER ON RECORD. SEVERAL TOP TEN MONTHLY RANKINGS OCCURRED
AT BOTH LOCATIONS DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. THE JACKSON WEATHER
OFFICE SAW JUNE 2009 AS THE FOURTH WETTEST JUNE ON RECORD...WHILE
JULY 2009 WAS THE COOLEST AND SIXTH WETTEST JULY ON RECORD. AUGUST
2009 WAS THE EIGHTH COOLEST AUGUST ON RECORD AS WELL. THE LONDON
CORBIN AIRPORT HAD JUNE 2009 PLACE AS THE SEVENTH WETTEST JUNE...AND
JULY 2009 WAS THE FOURTH COOLEST JULY. ONE INTERESTING NOTE IS THAT
EVEN THOUGH JUNE 2009 WAS THE 9TH WARMEST JUNE AT LONDON...IT WAS
NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP SUMMER 2009 FROM ENDING UP COOLER THAN NORMAL.

THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE AND THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT ENDED LAST
MONTH A LITTLE COOLER THAN NORMAL. BOTH LOCATIONS FINISHED ALMOST
ONE DEGREE BELOW NORMAL. THE MAIN CAUSE FOR BOTH LOCATIONS ENDING UP
BELOW NORMAL WAS NOT A CYCLE OF COLD LOW TEMPERATURES...BUT MORE OF
A CASE WHERE SOME COOL HIGH TEMPERATURES OCCURRED THROUGHOUT AUGUST.
THE AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH ENDED UP AROUND TWO
DEGREES BELOW NORMAL AT JACKSON AND LONDON. EVEN THOUGH AUGUST
STARTED OUT VERY WET...ONLY LONDON ENDED UP ABOVE NORMAL...AND THAT
WAS ONLY BY A HUNDREDTH OF AN INCH. JACKSON FINISHED OVER A HALF AN
INCH DRIER THAN NORMAL...THANKS IN PART TO ONLY RECEIVING AROUND A
QUARTER OF AN INCH OF RAIN OVER THE LAST TEN DAYS OF AUGUST.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE NEAR JACKSON FINISHED AUGUST
2009 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 72.9 DEGREES...WHICH IS 0.9
DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 73.8 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH WAS
81.2 DEGREES...AND THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW WAS 64.6 DEGREES. JACKSON
HAS A TYPICAL HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR AUGUST OF 83.3 DEGREES. THE
